About Dr. Lori Boothroyd

My love for nature and animals (both wild and domestic) has been a life long source of great inspiration and spirituality. Nature feeds my soul; my spirit in turn supports my wellness and ability to give back to others.

About My Private Practice……………

My private practice,”Centered Living”, specializes in Mindfulness-Based Interventions and Whole Health approaches to Mental Health and well being.  Individual counseling is available for relief from depression, stress and anxiety, as well as support through life transitions, including strategies for coping with chronic illness and healthy weight loss. Please visit my other website pages for more information and details on how to get started by scheduling a consultation.  As a licensed psychologist and a professional certified coach I’m equipped with a very wide range of skills and expertise to help you reach “whole health” and experience an authentic sense of well-being.

My Own Journey to Authentic Wellness was never easy…….

A very serious health crisis spanning over a decade as a young adult stole my dream to be an orchestral trumpet player. Medical experts told me I would one day be in a wheelchair! That was nearly 25 years ago. Unacceptable to me as a prognosis, I defied the odds and regained not only my health but a new vision for my life – one that changed me for the better. This health crisis and subsequent quest to find health and wellness brought me an opportunity to learn that I have a courageous, brave spirit – that I’m filled with grit, grace and pure feistiness (as I believe we are all, by the way). I’ve helped hundreds of people reconnect and live in deep congruence with their spirit, a sense of meaning, purpose and a return to wholeness.

There are a few things I hold to be true……..

…I trust we are here to be whole and happy….if we only allow ourselves to be.

…I know there is a brave hero within each of us, waiting to be called upon.

…I am certain that we are here to grow, feel love and to experience joy.

…I am learning to be more mindful and present in my life, and remain committed to this lifelong practice.

… And I live for that “Ah-ha” moment when my clients begin to create positive change.

When I’m not at work helping others……..

My husband Gregory and I (along with our bevy of cats) are nestled in the woods of northern Michigan. We enjoy kayaking much of the year, and when it freezes and snows, we take long snow-shoeing hikes in the forests. I enjoy gardening and building stone labyrinths, and thrive on long, solitary walks in nature, listening to the trees whispering and spotting deer and occasionally, hearing the howls of coyotes. My most creative and inspiring ideas come from such times in nature.
